It was reported by the New Straits Times on 10th April
2001 that the Construction Industry Development Board
(CIDB) advised developers, Contractors and Sub-Contractors
that they will be penalized and workers will not be allowed
to enter worksites from 1st July 2001 if they have not
attended an induction course on Work Safety. In
regards to this, employers have an obligation to take
the necessary steps to enroll employees for the induction
training.
There
are still employers who are reluctant and ignorant on
how to increase Occupational Safety and Health awareness
of their employees. Different approach and changes may
be required to evaluate all work operations. Besides ensuring
compliance to Safety Laws and Regulations at your workplace,
risks and dangers exposed to the public must also be looked
into and abated.
